Ashanti Gold Closes First Tranche of Placement
VANCOUVER, BC - 12/21/2016 Ashanti Gold Corp. ("Ashanti" or the "Company") - (TSXV: AGZ) announces that it has closed the first tranche of a non-brokered private placement that was announced on December 9, 2016 (the "Offering"). The closing consisted of the issuance of a total of 952,750 units (the "Units") at a price of $0.40 per Unit for gross proceeds of $381,100. Each Unit consists of one common share and one-half of one warrant ("Warrant") with each whole Warrant entitling the holder to acquire one common share at a price of $0.60 per share until December 22, 2018. In the event the common shares of the Company have a closing trading price of $0.85 or higher for a period of 10 consecutive trading days, the Company may accelerate the expiry date of the Warrants to a date that is 30 days from the date the Company provides notice to the holders. All securities issued under the Offering are subject to a four month hold period expiring on April 22, 2017.
The Company anticipates a further closing of this non-brokered private placement during the first half of January 2017.
